MISS Ufuoma Bakporbe of Our Lady of Nigeria Secondary School, Oghara, the over all winner of the Senior Secondary Category, in 2012 Chris Ikomi Essay Competition has on behalf of others expressed gratitude to NNPC/Chevron for organising such an intellectual competition.
Bakporbe who expressed the gratitude recently shortly after being named the winner of the Senior Secondary Category of the competition added that such exposition gave the participants the prospect in expressing themselves.
She also thanked the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as well as her teachers who encouraged them to take the competition seriously and the opportunity to be part of the event.
She, however, pledged continuous hard work in her studies so as to make her parents, teachers, and Delta State in generally proud.
In a related development, the first winner in Junior Category of the competition, Miss Mercy Ogbemi from DSC Technical High School, Field Town, also commended the organisers for honouring them while promising that participasnts will continue to do them proud.
Earlier during the award ceremony, one of the officials of Chevron, Mr. Deji Haastrup, noted that NNPC/Chevron Joint Venture would continue to improve the standard of education, adding that it was one of the company’s core areas of social performance.
He commended the awardees for their excellent performance in the competition while enjoining them to see their prizes as the beginning of higher challenges to excel, not only in academics, but in all their endeavours.
Mr. Haastrup added that by so doing, they will continue to celebrate their success.
