DELTA State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Patrick Origho has called on members of University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Asaba Chapter, to continue to promote peace and unity in their daily endeavors in life.
Origho who made the call recently while playing host to members of the association who were in his office for courtesy visit, said that the call had become imperative as peace and unity were the necessary ingredients needed for sustainable socio-economic and infrastructural development of any society.
According to him, Nigeria is passing through the most challenging moment of its existence as a nation which calls for vigilance, adding that members of the association and Nigerians in general should think of how to surmount the challenges bedeviling the nation.
He disclosed that impunity was becoming the order of the day in the contemporary Nigerian society, adding that, as those groomed in the nation’s premier University, members of the UIAA should continue to project the image of the institution that made them, by living exemplary life worthy of emulation.
While saying that he was tremendously elated over the courtesy call on him by members of the association, the HOS assured them (members of the association) that he would not disappoint them in the discharge of his assignment as the Head of Service in the state.
“I would welcome constructive criticisms and useful suggestions that would help us in the drive aimed at repositioning the state civil service for enhanced productivity”, Origho said, pointing out that he operates open door policy of administration.
Earlier, the Chairman of the association, Sir Paul Evuarherhe had told the HOS that they were in his office to formally congratulate him on his appointment as the Head of Service in the state, adding that as one of their own (their member), they were ready to partner with him in the onerous task of taking the state civil service to a glorious height.
The HOS, also, received members of Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association, Asaba Branch who were in his office for a courtesy visit.
