IN spite of lean resources and competing needs, Delta State Government is committed to completing all
on-going projects and leaving behind a lasting legacy of development for Deltans, Secretary to the state Government, Comrade Ovuozourie Macaulay, has said.
Comrade Macaulay made the remark during the ministerial press briefing on the activities of Delta State Government in the conference room of the Ministry of Information, Asaba.
Macaulay, who was accompanied by management staff of the Office of the SSG, also told journalists that the electoral promises of the current administration which are geared towards creating a better Delta for all, are already being achieved.
“On its electoral promises to the people, I am happy to say that a lot of achievements are being recorded on a daily basis, the relevant details of which will be supplied by the Chief Executives of the MDAs”, he said.
The SSG stated that the office of the Secretary to the State Government had facilitated the appointment of seven Special Project Directors which are responsible for supervising the execution of mega projects in the state.
He named the mega projects to include Trans-Warri/Ode Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads, Asaba-Ughelli Road Dualisation Project; Ogheye Market Project; Dualisation of Old Lagos/Asaba Road, Boji-Boji Agbor; Sapele-Ugberikoko-Abigborodo-Arowon Road and Asaba International Airport.
He said, irrespective of the fact that the SSG’s office is not a programme execution office, it represents the meeting point between policy and practice, thereby facilitating synergy between politics and public administration in the state.
Comrade Macaulay emphasized that the SSG’s office helps in strengthening the bureaucratic apparatus of government for more effective coordination and attainment of the goals of government in the state.
