Jega Urges Security Operatives To Internalise Rules Of Electoral Process

IN line with its commitment to the welfare of its citizens, especially in times of natural disasters, the Delta State Government has handed over a parcel of land measuring 300ft by 4060ft at Alisimie-Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area to the Federal Government to build two hostel blocks for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) occasioned by natural disasters.
Handing over the documents to the Secretary, Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation, Alhaji Umar Gulani at the project site in Alisimie -Agbor, the Permanent Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Mr. Emmanuel Yugbowre, who represented the Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Pastor Powell, said the project was very dear to the state government.
He recalled the 2012 flood disaster that ravaged 14 local government areas of the state, adding that the building of the hostels, which will have bore hole water and clinic facilities, was a proactive measure so that the state government would not be taken unawares in times of flood or other natural disasters as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) would be accommodated in the hostels.
He commended the Federal Government for partnering with the state government to build the hostels, assuring that government was committed to completing the project soon.
In their remarks, the chairman, Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Fred Ofume and Chief Augustine Apaokueze, the custodian of Alisimie-Agbor community thanked the state and Federal Governments for siting the project in Alisimie, assuring of their cooperation and adequate security during the construction of the hostels, even as they appealed that the project would not be abandoned.

On their part, the MD/CEO, Davoris Nig. Ltd, Mr. Davidson Oriahi and the MD/CEO, Agada Foundation, Deacon Arede Edeinmene, (the contractors handling the project), said they would commence work immediately having been mobilised.
They promised to complete the project in record time and according to specifications.
