I’ll Construct Fed Varsity Town Road, Ugbomro —Okowa

Delta State Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has promised that if elected into power as governor of Delta State in the February 2015 elections, he will within 60 days in office construct the long neglected Federal University town road of Ugbomro, in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
Senator Okowa, who made the promise during his campaign to the permanent palace of HRM Emmanuel Ekemejewan Sideso (JP), OON, Abe1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Effurun explained that the promise was made consequent upon the personal request of the highly esteemed traditional ruler who he commended for the peace in the area, promising further that if he becomes the governor of Delta State he will emulate the peace initiative of his royal host.
He again promised that if he wins the forthcoming governorship contest, he will upgrade the standard of Ekpan General Hospital due to its high rate of patronage and importance to the area. While noting that the Ekpan Fish Farm is the biggest in the state, Senator Okowa promised to upgrade it and build similar fish farms in other parts of the State even as he assured that he will complete all uncompleted projects in Uvwie Local Government Area if becomes the governor of Delta State.
In his thought provoking speech, Senator Okowa advised Deltans to part with issues that tend to divide the state and embrace those that unite the state, promising that if voted as the governor of Delta State, he will ensure equity, fairness and justice amongst the various ethnic groups in the state.
He then urged the people of Uvwie and indeed Deltans to vote President Goodluck Jonathan, himself and other PDP candidates in the February 2015 elections.
In his response, Abe 1 thanked Senator Okowa for the visit and his promises even as he stated that traditional rulers are fathers to all politicians.
He appealed to politicians in Uvwie to work together as a team and to shun the ‘pull him down’ syndrome.
The traditional ruler advised his guest to always seek advice from Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan whenever he has cause to do so if he wins the governorship race of Delta State just as he commended Governor Uduaghan for the rapid developmental transformation in Uvwie and other parts of the state.
The Uvwie monarch, who disclosed that the traditional rulers of Delta North had a meeting with traditional rulers of Delta Central recently suggested that such meetings should be held regularly and should not be held only during electioneering periods.
High point of the event that was attended by who is who in PDP Delta Central and other parts of the State was a special prayer said for President Jonathan, Senator Okowa and all the PDP candidates by the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom.
