Guber/Assembly Polls: Uduaghan Warns Trouble-Makers

Delta State Government has warned those hoping to forment trouble in tomorrow’s elections to have a rethink or be prepared to face the full wrath of the law.
The state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan gave the warning in Warri yesterday during a press briefing towards the April 11 elections.
The governor, who solicited for a peaceful conduct of the elections, noted that tomorrow’s elections would remain a hallmark in the annals of the state.
“Saturday’s election will mark water shed in the annals of our beloved Delta State. After this election, I will be preparing to hand over to my successor as chosen by every Deltan on May 29, 2015. As you go out to vote on Saturday we should always remember that this is not a do or die affair. I have no wish that anyone should come to harm any way. peaceful election where the leaders are chosen in a peaceful atmosphere is a major hallmark of democracy.”
“From what INEC has briefed me, adequate arrangement has been made for this election. The observed lapses in Presidential and National Assembly election are being corrected. Specifically INEC has assured that materials and officials of INEC will be very prompt on April 11. INEC has also assured us that the card reader will function properly,” he said
“It is therefore our duty that we conduct ourselves in a peaceful and orderly manner. We must follow the rules, do our accreditation using the permanent voter’s card, wait patiently to cast our votes for the candidates and parties of our choice.”
“The security agencies have assured me also of their readiness to confront trouble makers and ensure a peaceful conduct of the election. We can make the work easier for them by making sure that there is no breach of the peace. I want to make it abundantly clear that trouble makers will not be given a breathing space before, during and after the election as the full wrath of the law awaits such people.”
Dr. Uduaghan disclosed that the state government has intelligence report that people with fake uniform may be involved in the election, adding that some persons have been arrested in Sapele. He therefore charged Deltans to vigilant as they go about exercising their civic responsibility.
