INEC Improved On April Polls, Says REC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Bayelsa State, Mr. Baritor Kpagih, on Saturday said the commission has improved on its processes in the conduct of State House of Assembly polls.
Kpagih said this when he spoke with newsmen in Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
The REC said that the card readers performed better and worked smoothly with President Goodluck Jonathan unlike the Presidential election when the card readers failed to authenticate his Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
“You can see that this election is an improvement.
“We are making progress with our processes but we still have some challenges because people do not understand our procedures.
“We have been making efforts to improve on public enlightenment with our stakeholders but we shall not relent.
“When we have the people understand our procedures, our work becomes easier.
“We have improved so much in this election and we are happy that things worked out better”, Kpagih said.
On some reported isolated cases of ballot box snatching, the REC said that elections from such places will automatically be cancelled.
He said that collation of results was already underway in various wards and local governments collation centres across the state.
