Justice Umukoro Promises Vibrant Judiciary Based On Rule Of Law

DELTA State acting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Marshall Umukoro, has assured the people of the state a vibrant judiciary that will dispense justice to all without fear or favour.
Justice Umukoro gave the assurance while answering questions from newsmen at a party organized by the Asaba Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in honour the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Zai Smith, held in Asaba.
According to him “we are promising a vibrant judiciary that will be anchored on the rule of law and hardwork”
Moreover, my predecessor, Justice Smith has done a lot, so we promise to build on his legacies to move the state judiciary forward, he said.
Justice Smith is a complete gentleman, he is a dependable character, very upright in all he does, he smiles a lot but very firm when it comes to dispensing justice, we intend to imbibe these qualities, because we have learnt a lot under him, Justice Umukoro pointed out.
Justice Umukoro equally assured all lawyers, judges, magistrates and judiciary workers of a level playing field and a conducive atmosphere in performing their duties.
He used the opportunity to call for better funding for the judiciary adding that without better funding, rendering of prompt services will be difficult.
There must be efforts to move the judiciary forward but we asked that the judiciary be well funded in order to achieve the desired results, he noted.
