Anioma Nation Honours Uduaghan

The Anioma nation of Delta State yesterday in Asaba honoured the State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for his ‘outstanding performance’ as Governor, as well as for being committed to the development of the State and making Asaba a befitting state capital.
At a reception held at the palace of the Asagba of Asaba, Obi Chike Edozien and attended by all traditional rulers form Delta North senatorial district of the State, their chiefs and leaders, the Anioma people said it was in appreciation of a man that has been committed to the interest of the people.
Obi Edozien who spoke on behalf of the Anioma nation said that Uduaghan did not only endeared himself to the people by his developmental strides across the State but ensured that the State was peaceful in the past eight years.
“Your Excellency we must credit the peace that is prevailing in the State today to your person and your administration… We must commend you for the developmental strides and particularly for the commitment in ensuring that Asaba befits a State capital”, he stated.
According to him, the new Government House complex, the Asaba international airport, the fly-overs, bridges, among other landmark achievements in the health sector, education, transport, and poverty alleviation informed the decision to appreciate and honour the Governor.
Besides, he said that the Governor has demonstrated that he loves the Anioma people by ensuring that an Anioma son (Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa) emerged the next Governor of the State stressing: “By this action you have ensured equity and fairness as well as peace in the State”.
In his remarks, Uduaghan said that his developmental strides in the state was meant to improve the social-economic lives of the people and engender growth and peace noting: “It is not easy taking some of the developmental decisions especially with regards to making Asaba a befitting state capital, it took quite some guts to do some of the things l did like the Government House and the airport. I believe that it is in the interest of growth and peace of Delta State.”
He appealed to Deltans especially Anioma indigenes to support and co-operate with the Governor-elect to enable him succeed as governor of the entire State adding: “He requires your advice, prayers and counseling to govern and succeed as governor.”
The Governor assured all PDP faithful that he was committed to PDP saying that the country needed a strong and virile opposition for stability. “A strong PDP would put the ruling party on its toes with regard to issues affecting the citizen’s welfare and growth of the country”.
He urged the in-coming government at the federal level to look critically at the issues of zoning of offices so as not to marginalise any part of the country cautioning that “If the executive and the legislative arms of government in the in-coming dispensation allow a part of the country to take all the positions there will be problem”.
The governor commended the traditional rulers and members of Anioma Congress for the reception and award assuring them that he would always be around to contribute its own quota to the development of the state.
