Delta Committed To Pre-Retirement Planning For Civil Servants –Origho

DELTA State Government is irrevocably committed to the pre-retirement planning for civil servants in the state who are due for retirement, the state Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Patrick Origho has said.
Origho disclosed this yesterday in Asaba while declaring open a two-day workshop on “A New Lease of Life After Civil Service” which was organised by the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions in collaboration with BOSAG International Limited for officers who have less than five years to retire from the state civil service.
According to him, pre-retirement planning has become a key issue in corporate responsibilities, even as he noted that “in most cases, there is little time to think of the post service delivery of the worker and this, to a great extent, accounts for the long queue of pensioners at regular monitoring intervals crying for pensions that have not been paid for years.
“This workshop, which is in line with the human capital development programme of the present administration in the state, is designed to prepare participants mentally for post-service years and then theoretically provides them with the relevant knowledge and attitudes for same”, the HOS said.
He disclosed that the workshop was, also, aimed at training officers on the acquisition of entrepreneurial skills with requisite knowledge and hands-on vocational skills for the future.
While saying that the state government through the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, picked POSAG International Limited to mount the programme (workshop) because of its long standing reputation in the area of human resource development, Origho expressed optimism that at the end of the programme, participants would be better informed and educated on how to approach their retirement life with much ease and a well prepared mindset.
The HOS, therefore, enjoined the participants at the workshop to seize the opportunity provided for them by the state government through the workshop by making the best use of it in preparing adequately for a sweet and blissful retirement life, just as he expressed appreciation to the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for making human capital development one of his cardinal programmes.
Earlier in his speech, the Chief Executive Officer of POSAG International Limited, Mr. Peter Osalor, who noted that life does not end after retirement, thanked the state government for given him and his team of consultants, the opportunity to contribute to the human capital development index in the state through the workshop.
