Okowa Outlines Schemes To Tackle Youth Unemployment

elta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has disclosed that his administration will emphasise on skill acquisition and entrepreneurship so as to reduce youth employment.
Speaking at a Thanksgiving Service at the First Baptist Church, Oghara held in honour of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori, Legislator representing Ethiope West Local Government Area, Governor Okowa said that his administration would create conducive environment for skill acquisition, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment in order to create more job opportunities and engage Deltans.
He explained that given the present financial challenges in the country, the state government cannot employ everybody into the state civil service, adding that ”when technical and entrepreneur skills are developed and nurtured, it will become easier to attain micro credit support, create employment outside government and the state economy will improve”.
While charging political leaders to use their positions to serve humanity, Senator Okowa said they should serve with humility, truth, justice as well as endure challenges that would come with their positions in order to bring dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
“Whatever we are, once we hold on to God and put Him first, He lays the foundation for us to succeed. We should not allow the grace given us by God to be wasted because we will be accountable to God for the service we rendered on the last day”, the governor said.
Sen. Okowa expressed confidence that Hon. Erhiatake Ibori would represent her constituency well, stressing that she has passion for her people and has supported them in the past through her people oriented programmes.
Earlier, the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Oghara, Rev. Godspower Iweh, in a sermon explained that God’s grace was not given for self proclamation but for a purpose which was to serve Him and his people. “God gives us grace for a purpose and the moment we deviate from His purpose, God’s glory leaves us. Whatever you are called to do, you must do it accordingly”.
Simiarly, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has charged Nigerians to put their trust in God for the development of the society.
Speaking at the third anniversary celebration of the Oracle Of God Ministries International [OGM] yesterday, Governor Okowa said that Nigerians must put their trust in God so as to guide them in the path of salvation and development as “God only is the builder of the society and the church”.
“If you trust in God, God in turn will make the leaders, the society and the church to grow, you must build your solid foundation in the Lord for the continuous growth and development of the society”, Governor Okowa said, adding, “we must worship God, look up to him in truth and depart from iniquity and He will lead us in the path of salvation”.
He commended the Senior Pastor, Rt. Hon. Sam Obi and members of the church on their third anniversary celebration and urged them to continue to let God dwell in their hearts and activities for the growth of Christendom.
In his address, The Senior Pastor, Rt. Hon. Sam Obi, who attributed the rapid growth of the church to the grace of God said that the church now has various branches and worship centres.
He appealed for partnership with individuals for various gospel outreach ministries and humanitarian activities that the church would soon embark on.
