Govt Commitement To Partnering Ngos On Peace –Ovie Agas

Secretary to the Delta State government, Hon Ovie Agas disclosed that the Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa administration was committed to partnering Non-Governmental organizations, NGOs in the areas of peace and security I order to bring the desired prosperity to Deltans.
Hon. Agas gave the assurance when members of Delta State conflict Management Alliance (DSCMA) paid him a courtesy call at his office, in Asaba to congratulate him on his appointment as the new secretary to the State Government.
The SSG, said that the Okowa’s administration was poised to embark n massive development of the state on the administration’s SMART agenda, noting that the first point of that agenda was wealth creation and development, while that peace and security were sine qua non to sustainable development.
He assured the DSCMA that he would sustain the existing partnership with them to assist in other areas deemed necessary.
Earlier, the Programme Officer of Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme(NSRP), Achu Wynyfred told the SSG that members of the Delta State Conflict Management Alliance, DSCMA, were in his office to congratulate him on his appointment and to introduce the DSCMA to him.
Wynyfred, who is in charge of Delta, Bayelsa and Rivers States, stated that the DSCMA was a multi-stakeholder platform consisting of representatives of security agencies, state government, institutions, civil society groups and faith-based organizations, whose main objective was to contribute resolution and create peaceful coexistence in Delta State.
According to her, the platform was supported by the Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme with funding from the United Kingdom (UK) Department for International Development (DFID)
Speaking in the same vein, the convener of DSCMA, Ebruke Oniajite Esike, appealed to the SSG to use his good offices to ensure that the Delta State Peace and Vigilance Law 2013 was implemented by setting up the commission in line with the law.
Those present at the visit were the Permanent Secretary, Office of the SSG, Mr. Jerome Morka; the Editor, Press Release/Head of Newsroom Operations, Ministry of Information, Agbaragu Timothy Esq. and Deputy State Commander, Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency Delta State, Mrs. Anietie Nse Inam.
