A pro-Okowa group, Prince Morka Vanguard for Okowa, has said that Governor Okowa’s concern for prison inmates and his advice to the judiciary to speed up the dispensation of justice so as to decongest the prisons in the state was a laudable beginning of the new administration.
The group led by Ogbuefi Prince James Morka, was speaking against the backdrop of the governor’s meeting with the judiciary whom he advised to speed up trials of cases so as to reduce the number of prison inmates across prisons in the state, promising to assist in rehabilitating those released, so as to be integrated into the mainstream of society.
Speaking with THE POINTER in Asaba, Ogbuefi Morka said, speedy trial of prison inmates was necessary so as to get those on trial for years, who may not be guilty, out of the prisons and get them back to their normal life.
He said the governor, considering the manner in which he started his administration, has much to offer the people of Delta State, noting that based on his previous antecedents in government, he is focused to fulfill his SMART agenda and bring needed change to the lives of the people.
While commending the governor for the recent appointment of Senator Emmanuel Agwariawvodo, former Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Okonta, former member of Federal House of Representatives, Paschal Adigwe and Mike Okeme; Morka said the appointment was a pointer to the governor’s drive
to actualize the five point agenda of his administration, saying he is focused on bringing the best brains into his government, and called on Deltans to support the new administration. Continuing, ‘Okowa would operate a Pan Delta government which would embrace all Deltans in the day- to- day running of the new government.
He said market women, farmers and all categories of Deltans should put hands on deck and contribute to the development of the state; noting, “We are appealing to all Deltans to support Okowa’s government. Market women should be calm, farmers, civil servants and corporate citizens should be supportive of Okowa’s government because we believe that Okowa, following his antecedents, will do well for all Deltans.”
