We’ll Partner Journalists To Actualise SMART Agenda –Agas

DELTA State Government says that it will continue to partner journalists in the state in order to actualize its SMART agenda.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Festus Agas stated this when he played host to the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council in his office in Asaba yesterday.
He commended NUJ executives for the visit, just as he admonished journalists to objectively and constructively report government programmes and activities, saying that media are veritable tool for development.
While thanking Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for finding him worthy to be appointed as the SSG, Hon. Agas, who is a graduate of Mass Communication, said that he would operate an open door policy, adding that he was ready to give clarifications on government programmes and activities when the need arise to avoid misrepresentation.
On the NUJ Secretariat (Press Centre), Asaba that is on the foundation level, the SSG promised to liaise with the Governor with a view to completing the project, even as he said that the state government would also extend its hands of fellowship in the capacity building of journalists in the state.
Earlier , the Chairman, NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Nobert Chiazor had congratulated Hon. Festus Agas on his appointment, saying that the appointment was well deserved.
He paid glowing tribute to the immediate past SSG, Comrade (Chief) Ovuozourie Macaulay, the pioneer Chairman, NUJ, Delta State Council, pointing out that “today we have another journalist as the Secretary to the State Government”.
While assuring the SSG of constructive and objective reportage of government programmes and activities, he solicited the assistance of the state government in completing the NUJ Press Center in Asaba as well as capacity building of journalists in the state for optimal performance
