Oyemami Urges Review Of Oil Block Allocation Process

THE Vice President, Petroleum and National Gas senior Staff Association of Nigeria, Warri Chapter, Shuwa Oyemami has called on the president Muhammadu Buhari to review the process of allocating Oil blocks in the country, saying that the allocation lacks transparency.
Oyemami who made the call in Warri in a chat with our Correspondent said that reviewing the process of allocating Oil blocks in the country would proffer lasting solution to the myriads of problems bedevilling the oil sector for the past decades.
He said the allocation and transfer of Oil blocks has remained one of the key factors affecting the Oil and Gas industry in the country.
Oyemami said the sector problem required a holistic approach which he said was the reason why it had become necessary for the president to look into it, and prefer a solution to the myriads of problems facing the Oil sector.
According to him, the Federal Government should see that the allocation of Oil block is done with transparency, in view of the highlighted challenge bedeviling the industry.
He used the opportunity to call on the president to address the issue of subsidy and other challenge affecting the Oil industry, stressing that, the industry is the mainstay of the economy of the country.
Commenting further, he enumerated other challenges confronting the industry to include crude oil theft, pipeline vandalisation, irregular Joint Venture Funding and non-payment of J.V cash calls the state of the refineries and others.
