Sapele Local Govt Wins Second Edition Of Ejele Annual Mathematics Competition

A new executive committee that would pilot the affairs ofthe National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU) has been inaugurated with Comrade ShakaEmomineemerging as the National President of the association.
Other executive members of the association included UgagaogheneOgheneyoleNdidi, National Vice President; Agolo Samson, National Senate President; OtuorahaOghonokaro, Secretary; DafikpakuOnyenalu, Financial Secretary; ObareEdafe, Director of Sports; ImalahUgoachunam, Director of Mobilization; Gere Obruche Seth, Director of Socials; Obi Lucky, Chief Whip and C. Ighomisotu, Director of Welfare.
Speaking shortly after his inauguration, the National President of the association,Comrade ShakaEmomine who expressed appreciation to members of the association for the opportunity given to him and members of his executive to serve, however, solicited for the support and cooperation of stakeholders to enable them succeed.
“This administration is an administration by the students, for the students and of the students, therefore a selfless service to the students community remains my utmost priority”, he added, even as he expressed appreciation to the governor of Delta State, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his timely intervention and solidarity to the students/comrade community.
The National President who reminded the students that they are heirs to a prosperous Delta State, however disclosed that “there might be several challenges to this course, such as lack of students’ secretariat for easy accessibility to the students and the administration when necessary; the non-payment of students bursary as at when due after their registration; non-involvement of the students community in some key decision making as regards education and lack of some special and beneficial holiday programmes for the students by the government for proper learning, practical assistance and enlightenment of our students and our peers in the fast developing technological world of modern days.
He listed other challenges to include lack of sufficient vehicles for the easy mobilization of students a development which, according to him, greatly affects mobility of the students to any special duty or activities and at the same time, reduces the inter-campus relationship between the campuses and students as well as the issue of leaders and some school chapters of the association being victimized by their various institutions for one reason or the other as mostly in the case of the mother campus of the association which is “DELSU”, pointing out that the all the issues raised deserve special intervention.
Responding, Hon Reuben Izeze admonished the executive members of NADESSTU to refrain from playing politics with the students, adding that they should formulate policies and programmes that would promote the welfare of the association, just as he promised to assist them when necessary.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman at the ceremony, Chief Christopher OminiminiObiuwevbi who was represented by Comrade Clement Udi, urged the leadership of NADESSTU to stand firm in projecting NADESSTU to higher height, pointing out that it was the responsibility of the leadership of the association to channel the request of the students to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
