Unveiling The Forces Of Freedom (1)

LET me re-open this column by thanking God for preserving our lives to this day. Only the living think of freedom. God kept us. He is worthy of all praise, honour and glory. My prayer is that God will perfect His work in our lives in Jesus precious name, Amen!
I want you to know that God has capacity to free you from whatever is tormenting your life. But He has principles on how to go about it. His principles are what I will be unveiling to you in this series of study. I am persuaded that as you follow me in this spiritual expedition, God will grant you total freedom from whatever seems to be holding you captive; be it marital delay, business stagnation, poverty, barrenness, illhealth or spiritual attacks at night, God can, and will set you free as we continue in Jesus name, Amen! In this edition, we will be looking at truth as a force of freedom. Nothing sets a person at liberty like truth. Jesus gave us this key to freedom when He said, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).
Don’t forget that Jesus left His majestic throne in heaven to this world just to set captives free. If He proffers a solution to captivity, then that solution must be trustworthy. He is the author of freedom. He also said, “The Spirit of the lord is upon me, because he has anointed me… to proclaim liberty to the captives… to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18). The important question is: What is truth? Before answering this question, it is pertinent to note that the whole world is in dire need of truth, many are still searching for it. So many religions have emerged claiming to have found the truth. Researchers are sweating hard to discover it. But with all these efforts, truth seems to have eluded mankind. It was Jesus that introduced truth to us as remedy for captivity. He said we will be free if we know the truth. And He told us that the Word of God is Truth: “Sanctify them by your truth, your Word is truth” (John 17:17).
Oh yes! We got it! God’s Word is truth. This means that the Word of God is what we need to be free from captivity. It is the key to your total freedom from oppression. With this truth in mind, we can simply rewrite Jesus’ statement in John 8:32 as follows: “You shall know the Word of God and the Word of God shall make you free”.
Knowledge of God’s Word is the surest route to freedom. Ignorance, on the other hand, plunges people into bondage and ultimately, destruction. God, while lamenting in Hosea 4:6, says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” But “He (God) sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions” (Psalms 107:20).
Again, Proverbs 11:9 says, “…through knowledge shall the just be delivered.” “Knowledge is power.” And we know power is needed to attain freedom. Godhas ultimate power, and His Word carries His ultimate power to set you free. Knowledge of God’s Word therefore guarantees superlative freedom. If freedom is your target, then you need knowledge. It takes knowledge to be free, and knowledge comes from the mouth of God (Proverbs 2:6). It is only the Word from God’s mouth that guarantees your total freedom. That is why Jesus added that, “If the Son (the Word of God) therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36). Nothing guarantees freedom like God’s Word. Every other thing can only deceive you with palliatives. Spiritualists, witch doctors, magicians can never secure your freedom. Liberty does not come from native doctors. Occultism is too weak to give freedom. Only God can truly set you free and He sets free by the instrumentality of His Word. When God sent Moses to free the Israelites from their Egyptian captors, He sent him with His Word. God was frequently telling Moses, “Say to Pharaoh.” It means the Word of God is God’s instrument for effecting freedom in the lives of people.
What is in God’s Word that sets men free? First, God’s Word is like fire (Jeremiah 23:29). The Word of God carries in-built fire that burns and consumes all limitations and cages of captivity, liberating you to live in total freedom.
Second, the Word of God is like hammer (Jeremiah 23:29). At the declaration of God’s Word the spiritual hammer of heaven is released to break every chain in your life, setting you free, from all forms of satanic captivity.
Third, God’s Word is a spiritual sword. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piecing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow… “This is why God’s Word heals severe medical conditions that are earmarked for surgical operations. It means God’s Word has surgical capabilities that are sharper than doctor’s surgical blades, cutting deep into every organ of the human body, including hard parts like bones to bring about freedom to the sick.
Fourth, the Word is medicinal. Proverbs 4:22 records that God’s Word has health- giving virtues, “For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.” There are very many other virtues enshrined in the Word of God that guarantees freedom. But space will not permit us to explain all of them here. However, the crux of the matter is that God’s Word carries all required virtues to set any captive free from all manner of bondage.
Finally, you may have been reading the Word of God or listened to preachers preach the Word without getting the promised freedom from it. If this is your experience, then you have to gauge your relationship with God. You must examine your stand with God. The Word of God does not work for everyone, at least not on the same frequency. Only covenant children of Godmenjoy the fullness of the blessings embedded in His Word.
If you are yet to make peace with your Creator, His Word will not work for you. But you can reconcile with God right away by praying this simple but powerful prayer: Father in Heaven, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I ask for your mercy. I come to you with penitence; I am remorseful of all my wrong doings; forgive me my sins. Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Accept me into your kingdom, and write my name in the book of life. Henceforth, help me to get the best from your Word, and free me from all works of Satan, in Jesus name, Amen.
