THE Executive Chairman, Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Sir Patrick Akporuno has called on the Delta State Environmental Protection Agency (DELSEPA) to assist the board in addressing the problem of flooding in the old State secretariat where the PPEB headquarters is located.
Akporunowho was speaking in an exclusive interview with The Pointer in his office said that the call had become imperative as it would immensely go a long way in helping to address the problem of rampaging flood in the secretariat.
According to him, there is absolute need for concerted efforts to be made with a view to addressing the menace of flooding in the secretariat, adding that the flood arising from heavy down pour each time it rains in the state capital usually cause setback to workers in various offices within the secretariat.
The chairman of the board who disclosed that the present government was doing quite a lot in the implementation of its SMART Agenda for Deltans, noted that the drainages put in place by the previous administration in the state were not properly constructed as they do not have proper discharging end “so, the flood keeps circulating within the same place”.
He added that the roof in his office was leaking profusely; pointing out that the leaking roof has caused some damages in the office, just as he stressed the need for necessary machineries to be put in place to checkmate the ugly incident.
It would be recalled that workers in the old secretariat had a major challenge in accessing their respective offices as a result of rampaging flood which swept across the secretariat.
