THE Chairman of Good Governance Network, Hon. Victor Okotete, has expressed confidence in the recently sworn-in leadership of Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) ably led by Olorogun Moses Taiga.
Okotete, who was full of gratitude to God, lauded the Board of Trustees of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) for their ingenuity and pragmatic decision to give the apex body a chance to move forward, following some setbacks that have bedevilled the association recently.
Okotete congratulated the President-General of UPU, Olorogun Moses Tiaga and his executive members, adding that with the calibre of persons that make up the executive, he was confident that the association will attain greater height.
He noted that the Urhobo Progressive Union has operated its activities for more than 80 years, saying that this feat has placed the union as one of the oldest unions in Nigeria and that it belongs to the fifth largest tribe in Nigeria.
While expressing joy for identifying with other branches of the UPU all over the country and those in Diaspora, he called for more unity of purpose so as to promote Urhobo ethnic nationalities in all ramifications; saying that the continuous publicising of Urhobo tradition and culture will bring development to national growth.
He called for a close support of the Union by the branches of the UPU outside the country and those in Nigeria and used the opportunity to advise all well meaning Urhobo elites to work as one, worldwide while networking with the headquarters in Uvwiamuge.
