Activating The Blessing Of Abraham (1)

JESUS of Nazareth whom a professor of Christian
Theology,Pius OyeniranAbioje, tried to deride and demean
in the 167th Inaugural Lecture of University of
Ilorin, died on a wooden cross. A wooden cross as some
time ago I wrote on this column is a by-product of a tree.
On a tree therefore, Jesus by whom we have redemption
through his blood, was crucified (Matt. 27: 32 – 42; John
19:17 – 31; 1Cor. 1: 30; Eph. 1: 7; Col. 1: 14; Heb. 9: 11 –
28; 1Cor. 1: 18). His death on the Cross ran contrary to the
Jews’ modes of the execution of capital punishment which
was done either through stoning, burning, slaying by the
sword or strangling (Rabbi Louis Jacob). God allowed it
to be executed by the Romans who used crucifixion as a
mode of death sentence. This was done on purpose as I
shall soon show.
Mark you, this Jesus was not only crucified but was
buried and a stone of no mean measure in weight, was
laid over his tomb by two, no mean Israeli friends of his,
Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus (John 19: 38 – 42).
The Jesus’ story does not stop at his death and burial but
on the third day, he was raised from the dead by the glory
of the Father (Rom. 6: 4; 1Corinth. 6: 14; Eph. 1: 20; 2Tim.
2: 8; 1Peter 1: 21); the stone over his grave having been
rolled away by an angel. Read and see the graphic presentation
of this event by Matthew, who until called by Jesus,
was an officer in the then Roman civil service.
“In the end of the Sabbath, as it began to dawn toward
the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the
other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a
great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from
heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door,
and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his
raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did
shake, and became as dead men.” (Matt. 28: 1 – 4).
Dear reader, I perceive the Lord will have me counsel
that you take out a day before the end of this week to fast
and pray; entreating God
1. to put to sleep, every satanic guard set over against
your life from breaking forth in grace, holiness, and steady
progress in the discovery and pursuit of your purpose
on earth;
2) for grace for special angelic ministrations in this
month, that will roll away from your life and family, every
hindering force on your steady growth in grace and in the
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ and on your consistent,
progressive rise in relevance and high level productivity
and accomplishments as one called, justified and glorified
in Christ Jesus;
3) for angelic ministration to give effect to your victory
in Christ over the forces that monitor and manipulate your
progress in God’s programme for your life through your
family background and those that bear rule over you;
4) that in your life time, you be both seen and heard and
not be denied the reward of your labour;
5) that doors closed against your steady growth in relevance,
accomplishmentand profitable living be opened
and those opened against you, be closed;
6) that you be released into your wealthy place in life
and service and that your shoulders be removed from
the burden of low profit yielding labour and your hands
‘delivered from the pots.’: living from hand to mouth
(Psalm 81: 6); and
7) that you be delivered from earning to service debt;
imploring God for wisdom and understanding for financial
liberty: freedom from debt and having enough money to
do whatever you really want to do in life.
May this be your month of grace for stability and progress
in highly productive and profitable living. I decree
that never again shall yours be the labour of the foolish
that wears him out not knowing how to go into his city,
in Jesus’ Name.
Jesus meeting his death on the cross, invariably then on
a tree, he became, as stated in the Mosaic Law, cursed. In
Deut. 21: 22 – 23 it is written “… if a man have committed
a sin worthy of death, and he be put to death, and thou
hang him on a tree: His body shall not remain all night
upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that
day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy
land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee
for an inheritance.”
Fulfilling Deut. 21: 22 – 23 by his death on the cross,
Jesus became every human’s access to two provisions: the
blessing of Abraham and the promised Holy Spirit. Thus,
in Galatians 3:13-14, it is written“Christ hath redeemed
us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for
it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles
through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise
of the Spirit through faith.” In the place of the curse of
the law that emits sickness, diseases, defeat, bondage,
poverty, insignificant living, unrealised expectations and
death as one can glean from Deut. 28: 15 – 68; because of
his death on the Cross, mankind can now both receive the
Spirit of God and the blessing with which God blessed the
progenitor of the Jewish race, Abraham.
On the two provisions that became man’s by Jesus’
death on a wooden cross: the blessing of father Abraham
is my focus today. I shall be ministering to impact on this
blessing; mark you, the blessing and not the blessings
of Abraham. It is a singular package of an aspect of our
redemption benefits in Christ Jesus.
The promised Spirit is received by faith: knowing and
believing what the Word says about him and on the basis
of that, one places his or her request before God for him
(Luke 11: 9 – 11). To them that believe, this Spirit is the
surety of the redemption they have in Christ Jesus, their
source of direction, bodily faculties renewal and power for
service. But our point of study today, that is, Abraham’s
blessing on the other hand, comes upon those who connect
to it by their faith.
For right and unobtrusive connectivity to this blessing,
one must have a revelation knowledge of what it is,
how to get hooked up with it and how to put it to work.
I welcome you therefore to an exploration for impact on
what throughout ages, stood out an average Jew, through
thick and thin as an accomplished fellow. The secret is, the
working of the blessing of Abraham in them.
As a curse can work through a family de-empowering
all that belong to her until defeated or settled, so a blessing
can have both immediate and generational impacts:
