PDP Forum Endorses Gov Okowa For 2019

A Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), political forum under the aegis of ‘Okowa for Governor 2019,’ has endorsed the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okow, for a second term, with a call on Deltans to support the governor come 2019, to enable him perfect his plans for the state.
The group made this position known shortly after a meeting it held in Kokori as part of efforts to drum support for the governor ahead of 2019 governorship election.
Addressing journalists at the end of the meeting, the Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Political Affairs, Hon. Chief Soso Enakerakpo, said that ,despite the economic recession ravaging the Nigerian economy, Governor Okowa has defied the odds as he has been able pay salaries of workers, empower youths, construct roads across the 25 local government in the state among others.
Soso, who is also the chairman of the forum, argued that for the governor to embark on such developmental initiatives in the state considering the hard times, was a clear indication that if the economy of the state improves, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would perform wonders.
He said, “For the governor to be doing all these, despite economic down turn, one can only wonder what he will do if there is money. He is a prudent manager of resources and nobody can take that away from him because the facts are there. Delta State is the only state that there is no recession.
“During this period, many states are finding it extremely difficult to pay workers salaries, but that is not the case in Delta State because the governor is not owing salaries and we can only imagine where the money is coming from to embark on such massive road construction across the 25 local governments.
“The governor has done exceptionally well and so deserves a second term in office. Okowa is a detribalised governor; he is an Isoko man, Urhobo man, Agbor man, Ijaw man, Itshekiri man and I can go on and on to buttress my point.”
He called on those nursing plans of contesting for the governorship election come, 2019, to steer clear as there is no vacancy in government house, hence they should wait till 2023 after Okowa could have completed the second tenure.
While commending the governor for appointing Ethiope East sons, Hon. Joshua Atigogo as Special Assistant on Special Duties) and Hon. Alfred Efejevwie (Special Assistant on Youth Mobilization), Enakerakpo urged members of the forum who worked for Okowa during the last election and are yet to be rewarded to exercise patience and continue to work for the governor, assuring that they would be remembered in no distant time.
