By Vincent Anikwushe
NO fewer than five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faithful in Ward 10 (Abah-Unor), Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, have been empowered by the Aniocha South Political Appointees (Umu Governor Okowa) with each beneficiary smiling home with N30, 000.00.
Addressing party faithful at the ward sensitization, mobilization and empowerment programme which witnessed a large turnout of people, the Chairman/Leader of the group, Dr. Emmanuel Mafiana who is also the Executive Assistant to the Governor (Political), Delta North, said the empowerment programme, which will go round the eleven wards in the Local Government Area is to appreciate PDP members for their support as well as encourage them to continue to support the party and Governor Okowa.
He told the people that there was no alternative to PDP in Delta State, explaining that the PDP government in the state under the watch of Governor Ifeaanyi Okowa, within just two years in office, has recorded milestone achievements in all spheres of life, despite paucity of funds.
To this end, he sued for their continued support for Governor Okowa and work assiduously for his re-election in 2019, saying that the Governor’s re-election in 2019 is an invitation for more prosperity for all Deltans and unprecedented dividends of democracy for the people beyond 2019.
Mafiana stressed the need for those who have attained 18 years and above and are yet to register to endeavour to register and collect their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) as well as those who have registered but yet to collect to do so to enable them vote in subsequent elections.
He advised the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme to make judicious use of the money to better their lots and appealed to those who were yet to benefit to be patient as they would be accommodated in due course.
The Governor’s aide who expressed joy over the victory of Senator Ahmed Makarfi led PDP at the Supreme Court, said that PDP is now poised for greater exploits in future elections in the country.
Some members of the group which is made up of 16 persons who also spoke at the occasion include Hon. Joe Adigwe, Hon. Frank Igwebueze, Hon. Jeff Okofu, Engr. Ejiofor, Hon. Collins Iwebunor, among others.
In an interview, Azundi Okoh, on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the Political Appointees for their kind gesture, saying that they had never had it so good. He pledged their unalloyed loyalty and support for Governor Okowa and the PDP.
