Asaba Residents Lament Inability Of Govt To Stop Refuse Dump On Nnebisi Road Median

Reside esidents of Asaba have again called on the Delta State Government to find a permanent solution to waste management in the state capital, particularly indiscriminate dump of refuse on the median of the Nnebisi road.
A
cross- section of the people made the call while speaking to The Pointer yesterday in Asaba.
They said the ugly trend was embarrassing and defacing the metropolis as government kept silent over the development.
A
ccording to them “people are now using refuse to destroy and deface the flowers just planted to beautify the city, now refuse dumped on the Nnebisi road median are struggling for space with flowers”
Mr. Collins Onwuka, who was angry over the development called on Waste Management Board, Ministry of Environment and the State Capital Development Agency to wake up from slumber and face the challenge squarely.
“Dumping of refuse on the Nnebisi road median is wicked and senseless, and allowing it by government makes the whole thing worse, government should come up with severe sanctions against defaulters, the sight of these refuse on the middle of the road is embarrassing and shameful”
Equally speaking, Madam Charity Nkem, said government should be blamed for the situation, adding, “ they are playing politics with everything, and how can government allow this madness to continue?”
She added, “It is because government is not serious with checking the ugly trend, hence the whole thing is continuing, had it been that some persons were jailed or sanctioned severely, it will stop, rather government is encouraging them to dump refuse on the median of the road, look, everywhere is full of refuse, it so shameful”Many others who spoke in the same vein, appealed to government to immediately stop people from dumping refuse on the Nnebisi road, it is bad, and it should be condemned and not allowed to continue.
They called on government to find better ways to manage waste and stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the Nnebisi road median, streets and other places in the metropolis.
