My Govt Won’t Sack Workers -Okowa

THE Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa has clarified that his administration has no intention of retrenching workers in the state or local governments.
Rather, he said that the essence of the introduction of the Biometric Clocking System is to entrench sanity into the civil service as well as ascertain the true staff strength of the state.
He made this known during the flag-off of political campaigns for the forthcoming local government council election at Agbogidi Primary School, Akwukwu-Igbo.
Governor Okowa reassured local government workers that efforts were being made to clear all outstanding salary arrears, as well as ensure regular payment of salaries.
At the occasion, the governor handed over the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag to the former Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Council, Hon. Louis Ndukwe as the candidate for the chairmanship position, pointing out that he was the choice of the people of Oshimili North on the platform of the PDP.
He expressed satisfaction that three women were among those contesting for councillorship from the various wards under the PDP in Oshimili North, adding that women should be politically empowered.
The governor enjoined members of the public to ensure that they have their voter’s card, saying that it would enable them to participate fully in the forthcoming elections, while commending the People of Oshimili North for the impressive turnout at the occasion.
