Delta Surveyors Set to Eliminate Quacks

IN pursuance of professional excellence and proper documentation of acquired landed properties in Delta State, the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Delta State Branch, has unveiled new guidelines on Cadastral Survey Practice, which will commence on January 1, 2018.
The institution on December 5, 2017, in a press briefing in Effurun, said that the introduction of the new guidelines, which is in agreement with the Delta State Government, is to bring sanity to the survey business in the state.
The Chairman, Surveyor Umukoro Abraham, (MNIS), said that the new guidelines, among other things, are to protect the public from unwholesome practices by some professional surveyors and their quack agents, as it will deal with, penalise and sanction earring members involved in sharp practices.
He said that many people had lost their practices due to quackery and loss of revenue by the state government.
The new guidelines will also bring about uniformity in plan production for all jobs, through the use of customised papers which will be used by all surveyors in the state.

With this new guidelines, public awareness on the need to make use of registered surveyors to execute their survey jobs for proper documentation of their properties and avoid loss will be unveiled, just as a new price regime is to be introduced, as cost
The Chief Strategist of Delta State and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sapele Local Government
election campaign team, Chief Paulinus Akpeki, has urged the people of Sapele to vote for the PDP candidate in the January 6 election.s
According to Akpeki, “We are here not to campaign for you to vote Inoaghan; we know he will certainly win. He is your son, but we are here to appeal for your 100 per cent vote. The 95 per cent you have always been giving us is not enough from this ward; give us Sokoto votes.”
The Sapele Local Government Area party Chairman, Hon. (Dr.) David Oghenekevwe,in his speech during the ward campaign, said that though the PDP has become a sort of religion to Sapele, the party would win convincingly in the forthcoming elections because it is working assiduously towards achieving the victory.

candidates to go back to their various wards, villages and units to preach the gospel of PDP to all members and continue
to work closely with the grassroot members so as to ensure massive victory for the party in the forthcoming January 6 elections. The Commissioner for Science
and Technology, Hon. Joyce Overah, Director of Asaba and Osubi Airports and convener of Team Okowa Again, Hon. Austin Ayemidejor, Chief Charles Ufuoma Obule, and Chief Anthony Amitaye, the member representing Sapele in the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), who all spoke, affirmed that the people in their areas are in full support of PDP, stressing that they will work in unison till total victory is achieved by the party.of production has increased overtime.
The institution also decried the substantive loss of revenues to the state government through quacks, due mostly from survey plans not lodged with the Ministry of Lands and Surveys.
Mr. Umukoro said that with these new cadastral guidelines, it is expected that there would be control on the proliferation of fake survey plans, especially with the introduction of the Customised Conqueror Papers for survey plans, which is designed for every surveyor with a unique identification.
“The system is designed in such a manner that every surveyor approved to practice in the state will have a unique identification and other security information captured on the papers allotted to him/her for the production of survey papers.”
He also stated that clients will be protected as job paid for will be timely delivered, as it will eliminate all necessary delays, as the new system is coming with pre-payment for plan deposit, which will guarantee immediate lodgement, prior to the production of certified true copies, this is to eliminate production of plans and sketches not intended to be lodged, which presently had been bringing revenue loss to the state.
The institution while thanking the state government for its efforts to enhance the process of land titles, particularly the issuance of Electronic Certificates of Occupancy (C of O), said that the government should take further steps to establish a further collaboration with professional bodies to promote speedy development.
According to the chairman, to further bring the attention of the public to the proposed new development, adverts will be carried out on radio and television, to keep the public in tune with happenings in the survey land profession in the state.
