Go, Cast Your Vote Without Fear –DSIEC

Ahead of tomorrow’s local government elections in Delta State, the Delta State Eectoral Commission, (DSIEC) has asked Deltans to come out enmasse to cast their vote without fear of molestation.
The commission, in a statement, yesterday, said that already, security operatives ‘are on red alert’ to ensure that all eligible voters fulfill their franchise.
Reaffirming that all was set to make the elections free, fair and successful, the commission reminded Deltans that their vote is their power and their right, and, therefore, they should come out and exercise it.
The statement urged eligible voters to go to the polling station nearest to them, ask for the voters’ register and exercise their vote freely. It appealed to them to avoid any act of violence in the interest of peace.
On its part, the State Police Command has said that the police were set to provide maximum security to ensure hitch-free elections, adding that only those with verifiable means of identification would be allowed to move as its movement restriction order would be fully enforced.
The command advised politicians to play by the rules and respect the electoral laws as anyone’ who violates the electoral laws’ would be dealt with.’
The police, he said, ‘has provided all necessary logistics and men that would make the elections a successful one,” the statement added.
A total of 16 political parties are participating in the polls in which 25 local government chairmen are expecte to be elcted into office for a three-year term. In all, 1, 089 candidates are vying for election as chairmen and councillors.
