Making Fresh Impacts In 2018 (I)

A New Year is here again. Welcome to 2018, our year of FRESH IMPACTS. Daniel 11:32, Psalms 92:10 are our anchor Scriptures. Our God is a moving God and has called us to move from glory to glory day by day, week by week, month by month and year to year. He is not a stagnant God.
As such, He designed us to always be on the move, on the move to higher realms of achievements, attainments and fulfillment. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all with open face, beholding as in a glass, the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the LORD.”
From what we find in this verse of Scripture, there is no level of glory that is worth settling down with, permanently. No matter the glory you have seen in life or the glory you saw in 2017, there is always a higher pedestal of glory waiting to be explored. I don’t care to know the magnificence of the glory, the level of honour and the height of achievements you currently enjoy, there is a higher dimension awaiting you. Don’t settle with your present achievement profile. If you relax or rest on your oars, you will lose the opportunity to go higher.
That is why there is always room for fresh impacts, extra achievements, more accomplishments. As long as you are a child of God and are walking in the covenant with Him, God expects you to always strive to attain more than you have already attained. Proverbs 4:18 says, “The path of the just is as a shining light that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
This means there is no terminal point on the ladder of success or achievement. It is God’s expectation that our lives, our families, our careers and professions make progressive progress and enjoy advancement on a consistent basis. When this is not the case, it shows that we are walking at cross purposes with God’s eternal plan for us.
It is important for us to understand that we have no excuses.
No excuse is strong enough to warrant stagnation or tolerate immobility. In this New Year, you must make fresh impacts, move forward and become productive! No excuses! God is always there to prod us on and to help us achieve things that, ordinarily, we cannot dare. He is always there to help us accomplish things we are incapable of doing by our natural strength. Because there is no room for excuses, we must tap into God’s divine power bank to make the required move to achieve. With God as our help, we can always achieve our goals, dreams and visions.
Divine movements occur during and in spite of challenging circumstances we face in life. In fact, adversarial circumstances are often the birth place of changes that greatly impact our lives and our world.
This year, challenging as things might be, will be a year of greater effectiveness, relevance and productivity for those who will remain in the loop of the Spirit, in spite of what they see or hear. It shall be for many a year of rebirth of long abandoned dreams and visions. The Lord said no vision borne by His Spirit this year, will fail.
Moreover He will rescue us from the ‘spirit of hope deferred’ and give us speed of accomplishments. It should be obvious that; no man can truly make impact without a vision. Every good thing you see around you today is a product of someone’s vision. The beautiful things of tomorrow can as well be your vision. Think about that.
Visions give direction. It will be a dissipation of energy running without direction or focus into the New Year. Don’t just drift into the year! Seek God in your quiet moments and come out with a design or plan for the year.
This is a year to be intentional about the choices we make if we are to achieve our goals. Drifters are not achievers. They just drift along anywhere the wind blows. Your vision must become your purpose for living if you are to impact your world. The Bible is unequivocal: “where there is no vision the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). Perish here doesn’t only mean death or physical annihilation. It means to be ignoble or to live without restraint, which in other words, means having a free fall for anything thrown at you by the world. I love Prophet Ezekiel. He had a vision from the Lord in the midst of captives (see Ezekiel 1:1).
Don’t let your environment define your future. Ask the Lord to give you something that will distinguish you this year. Most times, when we talk about visions, people think of huge projects. Don’t get me wrong. Nothing is wrong with big ideas, dreams or visions. But as you also know, some seemingly small ideas have greatly impacted our world. Consider the tooth pick. It was somebody’s small idea.
Today you have them in various shapes, colours and sizes. People have affected generations by little things. Paper napkins, needles easily come to mind. They do not appear to be big ideas but see how they have impacted our world.
Those that will make impact must be visionaries. Visionaries are trans-generational men. Their impact outlives them. Visionaries are also passionate people. They have something that propels them to live, to do more, and to look for answers to the challenges of life. If you live without passion, you are as good as dead. And dead men don’t make impacts!
Another way to make impact is to be goal-oriented and target-driven. You must have clearly-defined goals or targets. Setting realistic personal, family and career goals are needful but you need Kingdom goals as well. The key to success in all other areas is your relationship with God. As we say in HOUSE OF FREEDOM family “your access to God is your greatest asset in life”.
Those who make maximum impact in life usually have a solid spiritual foundation. This is because the physical always answers to the spiritual. What is your plan for increased study of God’s word and communion with Him? Remember, only the “people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits” (make impact) (see Daniel 11:32). Do you consider a bigger Kingdom budget? Making a difference among the poor and unloved members of your community? Have you considered helping someone else interpret their dreams? We shall be dealing with specific ways to making fresh impact all through the year.
Let’s partner with God this year and contribute our best to make our world a better place. If you truly desire to make fresh impacts this New Year, pray this prayer with me now: Heavenly Father, I come to You asking for forgiveness. Have mercy on me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness. Henceforth, grant me the grace to seek for higher dimensions of achievements and help me to set realistic goals and target that will help me make fresh impacts in 2018, in Jesus name!
