Why Gov Okowa Deserves Second Term –Group

BY INNOCENT OSAKWE
AHEAD of the 2019 general elections, members of Delta Political Vanguard (DPV), Aniocha South Chapter, have thrown their weight behind the re-election of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for a second term in office.
The group also adopted the member representing Aniocha- Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mrs. Amaechi Mrapor, as their candidate for next year’s general elections.
Moving the motion during the meeting of the group, which was convened by the Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Austin Chikezie, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Mr. Lawrence Ejiofor emphasised that the state governor’s track record in this present tenure has prepared him for re-election for a second tenure in office.
While calling on Deltans to rally round the present government, Ejiofor also called on the people of Aniocha-Oshimili to support the re-election of Mrs. Amaechi Mrakpor for a second tenure as the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives.
Earlier, Hon. Chikezie had stressed the need for the people of Aniocha South Council Area and the state in general to stand by the state governor and also work for the re-election of Mrs. Mrakpor.
While calling on members of the Delta Political Vanguard in the locality to be up-and- doing, Chikezie emphasised that they are entering election year, just as he charged members of the group to go back to all nooks and crannies and enlighten the people on the activities and achievements of the state governor. “You all must remember that, as a pressure group, our duty is to work for the re-election of our state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and at the local government level, to deliver Mrs. Amaechi Mrakpor for a second tenure in the House of Representatives.
“We are entering election year and, therefore, must work hard to ensure that we deliver our candidates come 2019. To achieve this , however, unity must be our watchword, for without unity, we cannot make the required progress. I do not need to say that our governor so far has done creditably well as we all can see with the various infrastructural developments in our local government and even beyond.
“As I am speaking to you now, the Ubulu-Unor-Ogwashi-Uku link road is ongoing as the contractor has re-mobilised to site. The Nsukwa-Ejeme-Ndemili link road is nearing completion, besides other agricultural development programmes of various kinds sighted within our local government.
“Therefore, I want to charge you all to go back to your wards and begin to convene meetings; as well enlighten the grass root people on the achievements of the state governor so far. It is the duty of every one of us to do so. “Besides, let me also use this occasion to call on all political office holders from the local government to assist the ward coordinators of the pressure group with funds to enable them convene meetings as regularly as possible. The more meetings we convene, the better as that will go a long way in helping to win more members to our fold,” he said.
Also speaking, the Executive Assistant to the Governor (Political), Dr. Emmanuel Mafiana enjoined members of the group to remain focused and strategise on how to deliver the governor, come 2019. “Even from the just concluded local government elections, we all can see that we have to redouble our efforts to ensure that we deliver our local governments to our governor and our sister, Mrs. Amaechi Mrakpor.
