The MEMBER representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, House of Representatives, Hon. ( Barr. Lovette Idisi, has sued for peaceful coexistence among his constituents and Nigeria at large.
Idisi, who stated this in Oria-Abraka noted that despite political affiliation, interest, religion, race, socio-cultural background, Ethiopeans and Nigerians should make concerted effort to guard against activities that would lead to conflict.
He expressed disdain that hate speeches and name calling have become the order of the day, calling on all to be mindful of their speeches and utterances, especially in public places avoid inciting the various ethnic nationalities in the country against the other.
Hon. Idisi, however, appealed to all to become agents of peace in order to avoid conflicts that could lead to social unrest as well as break down of law and order in his constituency and Nigeria as a whole.
The lawmaker said, inter-alia : “ Nigeria is a peaceful country and we must do everything within our powers to ensure that it remains this way. We cannot be seen to be fighting against each other because such unrest will only bring about economic retrogression.
“ Although, things are not playing out as expected but that does not mean it is the end of the road. Again, this economic backwardness should not be a yardstick to dwell in division, which is why I am calling on all to live in unison so that things can begin to take shape in our great country.”
While commending the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led-administration for bringing prosperity for all Deltans, Idisi specifically charged Deltans to sustain its support for the governor to ensure that his (Okowa) second term bid came to reality.
