South South Economic Summit: Okpara Lists Benefits To Delta

DELTA State Government has reiterated its resolve to ensure a world class summit in the state come April 26-28, this year with strong assurance that all the logistic arrangement needed at the summit are 100 per cent completed.
The state Commissioner for Economic Planning, Chief Kenneth Okpara who gave the assurance yesterday in his office while addressing some journalists on the preparations so far, said the accommodation challenge which before now was a nightmare, has been taken care of as according to him, the state government will engage the services of some five star hotels within and outside the state, as well as in Abuja.
“Arrangements for the venue have since been concluded and the logistics, have also been concluded. A lot of key personalities are coming to grace the summit. We are hosting the Presidents of Nigeria and Rwanda, as well as renowned international speakers. When you are hosting personalities of this nature, logistic arrangements cannot be toiled with”
“Arrangements have been made for flights that will come in; we are going to chatter flights that will be flying in daily from Abuja into Asaba. Apart from that, we are going to ensure that we increase the fleet of Airlines that will be flying into the Asaba International Airport from Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt”
He stressed that arrangements have also been concluded to ensure the availability of cars at the Airport and various locations to convey dignitaries to their various hotels.
The commissioner while saying that the state stands to benefit a lot from the summit as the economic potentials of the state would be showcased to not only the participating states, but the World, affirmed that state government was prepared to showcase its achievements in the Micro-Credit scheme
“We are prepared to show to the world what we are doing at the Micro-Credit Scheme. We have a documentary and stand where we will show what we are doing. Also, we will showcase our special Economic Zones, Warri Industrial Business Park, The Koko Free Trade Zone, as well as the Asaba ICT Park. All these are some of the things we are prepared to show to the world” he assured.
He, enjoined Deltans to support the state government towards ensuring a successful Summit in the state.
