Govt To Procure HIV/AIDS Testing Kits

EFFORTS to stop the spread of HIV in Delta State is receiving a boost as government has opened  tenders for the procurement HIV and AID testing kits and consumables in rural areas.

The procurement of the HIV/AIDS Testing Kits and consumables, funded by the World Bank had five companies competing for the supply of the items.  They include, Frontiers Network Ltd, Lagos quoting for 14.9 million naira, while AT and S Ltd, Ikeja, Lagos quoted #8,924,465 for Lot 1 and #1,980.000 for Lot 2.

Others who quoted for the supply are AKUMS Nigeria Ltd, Ikorodu, Lagos which quoted #15,750,000 and #1,392,840 for Lot 1 and 2 respectively, while DAVE Ventures Ltd, Nnebisi Road Asaba, quoted #7,280,000 for Lot 1 and #1,040,280 for Lot 2.  TUFE Ventures, Abraka Road, Usubi, Warri quoted #20,145,000 for lot 1 and #1,508,200 for Lot 2.

The tenders which were all in a sealed envelopes were opened and read out one after the other, by DELSACA Procurement Officer, Mr. Fynecountry Tamaraebi, before the panel, comprised of the bidders, Independent Evaluators engaged by the funding partner (World Bank), state government, DELSACA, Press men,  DELSACA staff,  Directors from Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, among others.

DELSACA Project Manager, Dr. John Osuyali disclosed that the process was to ensure transparency adding that it was the first biding session of the National Competiting Biddng process which was thrown open to the public through advert to enable companies capable of handling the supplies to quote.

He stated that the evaluators are credible to drive the process of carrying out physical verification and investigation to ensure that there are no ghost companies among the bidders and ensure that the bidders have the capability to handle the supplies. “After the considerations, the bidders would be abreast with criteria used in selecting the best bidder”, he assured.
