Artistes Urged To Gear Up For Entertainment Boom
PERFORMING Artistes in the state have been charged to be prepared for the job opportunities that will hit the entertainment industry soon.
The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr Richard Mofe-Damijo stated this while addressing the Delta State Chapter Exco of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) recently in Asaba.
Damijo reiterated that Delta State Government is doing everything within its power to ensure that the enabling environment and the necessary infrastructure is being put in place to ensure that the dream of establishing a ‘Delta Beyond Oil’ comes to fruition.
“Presently, we are growing a Delta that might not seem clear, but in two years most of the seeds that have been sown will begin to bear fruits. We cannot talk about a ‘Delta beyond oil’ without the entertainment industry and others like Agriculture”.
He noted that the state government’s three-point agenda is geared towards job creation for the Delta populace where they can have money to spend aside providing for their basic needs which the entertainment industry benefits from.
He further pointed out that the Delta Leisure Resort, which is under construction has as part of its plan a massive African Cultural Village where job opportunities would be created for the artistes.
Damijo, however, mentioned that the state government is currently working tirelessly to fight the security challenges it is facing, citing that it is such a huge threat to the tourism and entertainment industry.
He also stated that as a stakeholder in the business of entertainment, he is doing everything in his power to ensure that policies that would help the entertainment and tourism sector to thrive will be put in place.
Leading the PMAN Delta State Chapter Exco on a curtsey call to the Commissioner, the governor, Comrade Emma Gray, solicited for the continued support and encouragement of the association by the state government.
He pledged the association’s loyalty to the state government citing that the duty of every musician is to protect the values and heritage our culture.

With due respect sir, this whole thing is highly tribalized. Am from the delta north here no impact of your ministry is felt and i can tell you that you are not doing anything to help the artist on the street.
