THE Delta State Infrastructure Implementation Committee has initiated the process of termination of some contact jobs due to the delay in the execution of the jobs by the contractors handling them.

A statement by the State Commissioner for Information, Chike Ogeah Esq., said that the state government is worried by the delay of the contractors over the execution of the jobs, despite the fact that they have been mobilized.

He said that the contractor handling the dualization of Ughelli/ Asaba road project sector ‘A’ kilometer 00 to kilometer 39 with spur to Oleh has demobilized from site with skeletal work going on at slow pace while the contractor handling the same road project sector ‘C’ kilometer 92 to kilometer 138 and 267 with spur to Ogwashi-Uku has abandoned the road project.

The Information Commissioner said the contractor handling the construction of Sapele Modern Market has abandoned the project site, with only about 30 per cent of the work done.

According to him, as a result of the need to complete these projects without further delay, the State Special Infrastructure Implementation Committee, after its meeting held on Thursday, June 26, 2012, commenced the process for the termination of these projects to enable government re-award them to other contractors for proper execution.

The Commissioner named the defaulting contractors to include: Wokson International Limited, Ulo Consultant Limited and PRIMI Construction Limited.

It should be recalled that the jobs were awarded to the constructors by the Delta State Government in the months of November and December, 2008.
