Delta Women Mount Free Eye Treatment Programme

An all-women Non-Governmental Organisation[NGO], Delta Women, has mounted a medical programme for the medical examination of the eyes of those who participated in the programme and the offer of medical glasses to them.
The programme held separately in Oha community in Okpe local government area and Onicha Olona in Aniocha North council of Delta state, respectively.
At the two communities, the founder of the organisation and its driving spirit.
Mrs Elsie-Reed,said the programme was in memory of her mother, Mrs Comfort Ojorogwu, whose positive inclination to selfless. community service was legendary.
According to her, her mother lost her sight shortly before she died, a development she said she [her mother ] did not deserve, hence she resolved to help as many people as possible , to avoid the difficulty of optical loss of sight.
The Programme  Officer of the NGO, Mr Agboje- Egbonimali Shedrach said that a total of 92 glasses were issued to the people of Oha free of charge during the exercise, while at Onicha-Olona, a total of 70 persons benefitted from the programme.
Mr Agboje added that Mrs  Reed fully realises the importance of optical sight in the life of any individual, hence she opted to sponsor the programme.
He appealed to members of the public to take adequate care of their eyes, given the importance of unaided vision in the life of every individual, and revealed that the NGO would  in August this year, visit Oku-Ojorogu in Okpe council area of the state for the same purpose.
