Safugha Charges LGs On People-Oriented Projects
DELTA State Government has urged local government councils in the state to embark on people-oriented projects to enable people living in the rural communities benefit from the dividends of democracy.
The Commissioner for Local Government Afaairs, Barr. Newworld Safugha gave the charge when he visited Ethiope East, Ukwuani, Ika North East and Ika South local government councils in continuation of projects inspection in the various councils.
Safugha reiterated the need for the councils to key into developmental programmes of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan which is encapsulated in his three point agenda, noting that local government councils remain a veritable avenue to bring development to the door steps of the people, especially when the leadership of the councils were focused, proactive and committed.
He called on the councils visited to adhere strictly to directive from his office with regard to setting up agricultural farms in their various councils as it would contribute immensely to the human capital development agenda of Uduaghan administration which according to him will ultimately lead to job creation and food security in the state.
Projects inspected by the commissioner in Ika South local government include 1.3km Edike Road tarred by the Local Government, Agbor-Obi water project and the Alifekede Market project.
At Ukwuani Local Government, the Commissioner commended the HPM for embarking on he constructin of an office secretariat and urged others to emulate the Council he also inspected the Obiaruku modern market where he advised the council to clear the drain in the market to enable water flow.
