‘Govt Not Aware Of Oghara Kingship Tussle’
The Delta State Government has said it is not aware of any kingship tussle in Oghara Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area.
The clarification came from Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan at a breakfast meeting with journalists in Warri yesterday.
The governor, who was fielding questions from reporters, restated the position of the law which vests in a community the right to choose its traditional ruler and present same to the government for confirmation.
While emphasising that no candidate has been chosen as Ovie of Oghara Kingdom, Uduaghan affirmed that “even though a community picks a candidate, government reserves the right to also scrutinise that person to ascertain whether he is fit to be a traditional ruler before presenting him with staff of office.”
He expressed optimism that the process of picking the next monarch in Oghara Kingdom would be peaceful, but pleaded with the media to avoid sensational reports that can cause crisis in a peaceful community.
Answering a question on the state micro-credit programme, the governor said Delta showcased three women who specialised in spice production, plantain flour processing and bead making at the just concluded Bank of Industry (BOI) exhibition in London.
He also said he had made random telephone calls to beneficiaries of the programme through their numbers listed on the DMCP client register, and got positive feedbacks from them.
Uduaghan stated that based on requests from some of the beneficiaries, who are doing well, the state government would expandfunding of the programme to enable them get more money and graduate to middle-level entrepreneurs.

Bros no go there at all. With due respect i cant say the governor had lied, but it is not true that he is not aware there was an Ovie in Oghara. You are aware vide letter to your commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs dated 2y/07/12. It was received by one Larry Dumi on 24/07/12. This letter informs the Hon. Commissioner that we have elected Chief Christopher Erijitomah as Ovie-elect. The said letter is published in this same edition of The Pointer newspaper pg 21.
After the Ovie’s installation on Saturday 4th August, 2012, a letter also went to the governor on 6th Aug., 2012 stamped received on 08/08/12 and to the Hon. Com for Local Govt and Chieftaincy Affairs, it was received by Dumkwu Best C, om 08/08/12.
The letter informs the gove of installation of Chief Erijitomah as king of Oghara Kingdom.
So the governor cant be correct to say that an ovie has not been chosen as of yesterday when he spoke with the press.
He should address this issue maturely, as people are begining to have the feelings that the gov is sponsoring the crisis in Oghara. For me, it is not late to make u-turn if he is actually the one sponsoring fueling crisis there.

D only tin dat cn bring peace 2 oghara nw is unity,lets bring d parties 2gether so dat dey cn be one 4 we talk of kingship in oghara becos wen kingdom divided against kingdom dere will be no peace.And i want 2 employ d govt of delta state and d people of oghara 2 be more concern about d settlement 2 bring peace 2 oghara nt d kingship,becos no king will be honour in oghara 4 nw as far dere is division.i have a solution on how we can settle d issue of oghara.call me on dis noba 08165073361 thanks 4 calling.

My advise 2 my good pipple of Oghara Kingdom, especially our chiefs n those who feel dat dey can play politics wit d kngshp position n d right of Oghara piple, u all should beware, becos kings are made not politically elected. If d right person is not crown u shall bear d penaty,rember dis is not politics it is tradition
