Since the beginning of this year, about 70 deaths have been recorded in African countries as a result of human infection with monkeypox. This data was presented by the head of the WHO smallpox secretariat Rosamund Lewis, reports TASS.
According to her, as of today it is known that in five African countries in 2022, monkeypox led to fatalities. WHO experts are monitoring the developments to understand how to stop the spread of the virus and take appropriate measures.
According to the latest data, there have been 550 confirmed cases of human infection with monkeypox worldwide. Such cases have already occurred in thirty countries, including Europe.
